The Story Begins
While hiking in the Sierra Madre just outside the colonial town
of Alamos Mexico, we, the founders of Native Imports, shared a
vision. We were guided in creating a fair-trade import company
that would aid and benefit native artisans, their families, and
the communities in which they live. On our journey, we have been
fortunate enough to witness the extraordinary craftsmanship of
handmade ironwork, furniture, pottery, jewelry, and clothing.
The artists in many cases have no viable means by which to purchase
the materials needed to fashion their beautiful works of art,
and often they do not have adequate shelter, food, clothing, and
clean water. One of the immediate goals of Native Imports has
been to help supply the needed tools and materials required by
these gifted artists to produce their magnificent artwork. In
turn, with a guaranteed fair wage, they are working with dignity
and lifting themselves up from an impoverished state. We encourage
discerning consumers to share in our passion to eliminate poverty,
and to honor the creative native spirit.
One artist at a time, we are building a sustainable multi-cultural
community of artistic reverence and compassion.
